Seems like millions are being spent in the Eastern Cape. This time they have gone beyond the million Rand status.
Two district municipalities have allegedly irregularly awarded a multi billion Rand contract to Izwelethu Cemforce.
The questionable tender is being investigated by the Hawks. Hawks spokesperson, Thandi Mbambo confirmed on an interview with eNCA that over 1.5 Billion Rand was allocated for the tender and there had been a discovery that the toilets have not been constructed, only the material was delivered in some areas.
“It was discovered the toilets were actually not constructed. It was only material delivered in certain areas. Preliminary investigations show the work is totally not completed in line with the amount already paid to the company in question,” – Spokesperson, Thandi Mbambo.
The investigation is still ongoing.
