WHO, also reports that the novel coronavirus has 6101 people in a severe state as of 08 February. China has 723 deaths.
Outside China, there are 288 confirmed cases in 24 countries – and only 1 person died outside China of this deadly virus. According to the WHO RISK ASSESSMENT, China has a VERY HIGH state, whereas the regional and global levels are on the HIGH state.
WHO’s strategic objective to minimize the spread of the coronavirus is to “Limit human-to-human transmission including reducing secondary infections among close contacts and health care workers, preventing transmission amplification events, and preventing further international spread from China” and one of the other objectives is to detect the virus early and so infected patients can be taken care of.

The eastern coastal province, Zhejiang, comes third with 1048 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus as of 08 February according to WHO.
