The NSC Matric Students are very eager to know how they did last year. The release of the National Senior Certificate Results, i.e. government schools, will be released on the 8th of January 2020, on a Wednesday. There are no systematic irregularities reported according to Umalusi.
Public and private schools release results in different dates. NSC falls under public schools, whereas IEB falls under private schools in South Africa. Get ready for your awaited results on Wednesday, 8 January 2020.
IEB (Independent Examinations Board) gets a massive 98.82% pass rate which is still a decrease from 98.92% of the previous year. This was also confirmed by the IEB CEO Anne Oberholzer in a statement.
“Umalusi has monitored all aspects of the 2019 examination process and has declared the results to be fair and valid,” she added.
Out of the 98.82%, 89.51% qualified for entry to study for a degree, whereas 7.91% qualified for entry to study for a diploma and 1.4% qualified to study at the Higher Certificate level.

The Government urges students to send their ID number and Exam numbers via SMS to 35658.

Students are strongly advised to get their statements of results from their schools/centers where they wrote their examinations. You can get partial results on the Government’s Education Website. If you have any queries regarding your results, they should be submitted 30 days after the release of the results.
Candidates are urged to ensure their names and ID Numbers are reflected correctly on their statements, should you find any incorrect information, report the matter the department before 30 June 2020.
Re-check and exam script re-mark
Any student who needs to apply for a remark or a recheck of the examination script, registrations can be done at school or a district office in the province. The information for the process is written on the other side of your Statement of Results.
The closing date for application (both online and manually) is on 22 January 2020. The fear for a re-mark is R112.00 and R27.00 for a re-check. After such a process one can apply for an additional review of the script within 7 days after the release of the re-check or a remark. The fee amounts to R219 for reviewing the script.
Supplementary Exams
February/March supplementary exams have been removed and one can only apply for the May/June exam. The closing date for students who would like to improve their results or complete outstanding subjects is on the 31st of January of the current year. There are terms and conditions.
Will results be available in newspapers?
The Dept. of Basic Education told Parent24 that they no longer make newspapers a priority; however, there will be other newspapers that will publish them regardless.
The NSC Matric Results will be released live on Tuesday at 18:00 in Vodaworld, Midrand. The Pass rate, drop-out numbers and achievements details will be released.
