The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy has published the latest fuel price adjustments for February 2022 which show a big increase in the prices of both petrol and diesel in South Africa.
• Petrol 95: increase by 53 cents per litre bringing the total cost to R20.14 per litre
• Petrol 93: increase by 53 cents per litre bringing the total cost to R19.89 per litre
• Diesel 0.05%: increase by 80 cents per litre bringing the total cost to R18.04 per litre
• Diesel 0.005%: increase of 79 cents per litre bringing the total cost to R18.07 per litre
• Illuminating Paraffin: increase of 101 cents per litre bringing the total cost to R11.97 per litre
Rising oil prices are the main culprit behind the increases, while a stronger rand against the dollar has cushioned some of the damage. The increases has pushed petrol 95 above the R20/litre mark once again.
