In total there have been over 23 000 voting stations in South Africa that were opened on Monday. The 2021 local government elections proceeded on the 1st of November despite the Covid-19 pandemic. The court rejected a bid by the IEC to move the elections to February 2022 citing the global pandemic.
The number of voters surpassed 26 million, many of which were in the early and late 30’s. Did you know there are over 300 political parties and 900 independent candidates? casting your ballots at a voting station may be very tricky – however, when you are in a queue to cast your vote, in many cases, you have already made a decision of the party you want to vote for.
