In a statement released by Eskom on Wednesday, Gauteng will be experiencing a load reduction from 5:00 in the morning to 9:00.

‘We are implementing load reduction from 05:00 – 09:00 (tomorrow morning) to avoid network overloading in high-density areas that are prone to illegal connections, meter bypasses and vandalism of electricity infrastructure’

The affected areas are as follows:

  • Soweto
    1. Chiawelo
    2. Dhlamini
    3. Jabulani
    4. Klipriviersoog
    5. Mapetla
    6. Molapo
    7. Moroka
    8. Naledi
    9. Phiri
    10. Protea North
    11. Protea South
    12. Protea Clen
    13. Senaoane
    14. Bram Fisherville
    15. Dobsonville
    16. Dobsonville Gardens
    17. Doornkop
    18. Emdeni
    19. Lufhereng
    20. Meadowlands
    21. Protea North
    22. Protea South
    23. Protea Glen
    24. Thulani
    25. Vlakfontein, and
    26. Zuurbult
  • Vaal
    1. Boipatong
    2. Powerville
    3. Sharpeville
    4. Tshepiso
    5. Vanderbijlpark N.E.3
    6. Vereeniging
    7. Althea AH
    8. Ennerdale South
    9. Geluksdal AH
    10. Kanana Park, and
    11. Orange Fam

Eskom urges everyone in the area to switch off all the electrical appliances during the load reduction implementation. By doing so, there will not be any power surges when the power returns.

‘Failure to do so may lead to transformer trips or failures, and damages to household appliances when supply is restored’

You are encouraged to report illegal connections to the Eskom Crime Line on 0800 11 27 22.
