The R350 Grant relief from SASSA is meant for unemployed South Africans. Anyone with a birth certificate is assumed to be under the care of a guardian or parents. If you have successfully applied for the Grant, and have been approved to collect the R350 at the post office, please use your Green Book ID or a Smartcard ID.

Birth Certificates cannot be used to collect the funds. Unfortunately, a lot more people applied even when they only possess a birth certificate. You will be returned home empty-handed.

The bottom line is you can’t use Birth Certificates to collect the R350 Grant at a Post Office. The requirement is clear and in bold – your ID Book or smartcard.

If SASSA has approved your R350 Covid relief grant, you will receive an SMS to confirm that you can collect it from your nearest post office.

‘If SASSA has approved your R350 COVID relief grant, you will receive an SMS to confirm that you can collect it from your nearest post office.’, posted SAPO on twitter,
