The JSE all share index saw a slight gain yesterday closing Thursday on 66 555.78 with a 0.5% gain since its opening price of 66 248.74.

On Thursday the South African equity markets saw Finbond Group Ltd. being the biggest loser of the day with a -24.53% loss moving from R1.59 to close the day at R1.20, whilst Visual International Holdings Ltd. saw a 33.33% gain moving from R0.06 to R0.08, making it the biggest winner in the equity market.

2021 Tax filing season opened yesterday (1 July 2021). Filing can only be done online and walk-in taxpayers will not be able to submit their filing at any branch.

South Africa recorded the largest new cases of corona virus with 21 584 new cases reported on 1 July 2021.

Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula confirmed that the new Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (Aarto) demerit system will come into effect on 1 July 2022, a year later than its original schedule.

The Rand took a knock against the US Dollar on Thursday closing at 14.42 from its opening of 14.27.

Gold moved from its opening of 1 761.22 to close at 1 770.21 USD/oz. giving it a 0.5% gain on Thursday.

Platinum saw some gain yesterday moving to 1 079.00 USD/oz. from its open price of 1 072.50 USD/oz resulting in a 0.6% gain.

Palladium closed Thursday’s business day on 2 773.33 from its opening price of 2 760.25.

Oil (Brent Crude) closed at 75.84 from its opening of 74.62 USD.

Global Markets

USA500 hit yet another record high whilst NASDAQ was largely flat yesterday. 

European stocks were up yesterday with the UK100 up by 1.25% and the DAX by 0.47%.

U.S. Nonfarm Payrolls, U.S. Unemployment Rate, European Central Bank President Lagarde Speaks.
