The JSE all share index saw a slight slip yesterday closing Tuesday on 65 849.75 with a -0.5% loss from its opening price of 66 166.86
On Tuesday the South African equity markets saw Chrometco Ltd. being the biggest loser of the day with a -36.36% loss moving from R0.11 to close the day at R0.07, whilst Go Life International Ltd. saw a 100.00% gain moving from R0.01 to R0.02, making it the biggest winner in the equity market.
It has been over one week since former South African President Mr Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma’s guilty verdict leading to him being sentenced to 15 months imprisonment but no arrests have yet been made to detain the former president in order for him to start serving his sentence.
The Rand took a knock against the US Dollar on Tuesday closing at R14.38 from its opening of R14.26.
Gold moved from its opening of 1 791.77 to close at 1 797.08 USD/oz. giving it a 0.3% gain on Tuesday.
Platinum saw some gain yesterday moving to 1 094.59 USD/oz. from its open price of 1 100.56 USD/oz resulting in a -0.5% loss.
Palladium closed Tuesday’s business day on 2 787.50 USD/oz.
Oil price tanked with Brent Crude closing at 74.53 from its opening of 77.16 USD.
The greenbag gained some ground against major currencies with the dollar index up to 92.50
June marked the second month of range-bound trading for bitcoin as the bulls and bears battled for control between USD 30 000 and USD 42 000. BTC retreated 50% from its April high of USD 65 000.
Ethereum’s slump was even more dramatic, trading down from a May high of more than USD 4 000 to USD 1 700, a drop of 58%. The price has since recovered to USD 2 300.
