President Cyril Ramaphosa will be addressing the nation live amid the country’s concern on COVID-19 and the possibilities of a complete lockdown.

The exact time of the broadcast is still unclear. Ramaphosa was expected to address the nation yesterday, however, tonight’s briefing is said to be live possibly at 19h00 19h30. The ever-growing number of cases of the coronavirus may lead to a complete shutdown in South Africa.
It is possible that the number of cases has surpassed 300-barrier. On the last briefing by the President, he declared the pandemic a state of national disaster.
“We have now declared a national state of disaster in terms of the Disaster Management Act. This will enable us to have an integrated and coordinated disaster management mechanism that will focus on preventing and reducing the outbreak of this virus,”
Currently, there are 274 confirmed cases of coronavirus in South Africa. There hasn’t been an update, however, this is expected to be announced by the president, tonight.
There are 402 confirmed cases of coronavirus across every province in South Africa.
