MTN LTE is made for a faster internet experience; it is faster than 3G – and intended to minimize video buffering. Get unwavering streaming or videoconferencing on the MTN’s LTE network. The speed ranges from 7Mbps to 20Mbps – this enables you to download files faster than an ordinary 3G connectivity.

LTE (Long Term Evolution) enables you to upload pictures and videos at a faster speed, you can have it connected to your smartphone, routers, modems, and tablets.

Have an MTN LTE doesn’t cost you a dime, with MTN PAYG, you can purchase the LTE enabled SIM if you don’t have one. You can also do a free LTE SIM Swap with an LTE SIM Card.

LTE may sound complicated but it’s not. When you want to have access to MTN LTE you need the following: The MTN LTE SIM Card, LTE-capable device and an LTE Coverage area, if you are an MTN Contractor, you can call MTN on 135 to have LTE activated.

MTN LTE SIM Swap

  • To do an LTE SIM swap and have a capable device, SMS the word ‘Swap’ from your OLD SIM to 44770 and the Standard SMS rates will apply
  • You will receive an OPT (One-Time PIN) valid for 15 min, note It down as it will be used on the next step
  • SMS ‘Swap(LTE SIM number)*(OTP)#’ to 44770 (The SIM Number is on the starter pack of your new LTE SIM Card)
  • Wait until the old SIM stops working and insert the new SIM
  • You will receive an SMS confirming your device is MTN LTE-ready

LTE-capable devices can also be found in MTN Stores. Ensure your area has coverage using the MTN LTE Coverage map.

Is LTE the same as 4G?

Yes, 4G is in most cases, referred to as LTE (Long Term Evolution), Difference handsets may display different terms. However, both 4G and LTE are the same terms. The Apple device displaces the LTE icon and Androids devices could use both 4G and LTE. LTE is more advanced than 3G.

How to enable MTN LTE network
