[Opinion] Covid-19, a Timely Reprieve For Corrupt Cadres

With the kind of economic beatdown South Africa is feeling, I am sure the ANC Cadres are thanking the gods for the COVID-19 distraction.

With South Africa’s economic meltdown and two successive downgrades by rating agencies in only one week, our spastic government must be almost happy to have the pandemic and the lockdown to deal with immediately instead of answering questions on how it plans to resuscitate the economy that it has literally bled dry…

Some say the pandemic might even be a precursor to the declaration of a State of Emergency and a perpetual lockdown. At best we can expect these ANC goons (who give us blacks a bad name) to desperately grasp at it as another excuse for their systemic failures.

Some ANC ministers, though, are happy as the lockdown presents them with an opportunity not to make policy decisions and provide political leadership, but to grandstand and appear to be furiously busy enforcing compliance with lockdown regulations, but in actual fact, they are taking a holiday and are using this time for pleasure and add more gluttonous centimeters to their waists by ordering lots of indulgent ‘take-out’ from nearby restaurants…not to mention giving them ample time to aggressively hide their tracks of corruption & bumbling incompetence.

But this hiatus will pass and the business of stimulating the economy will once again rear its demanding, ugly head and we will need to know what our ‘den of thieves’ government intends to do to take us out of the slump.

Corruption watchdogs have been sounding like a broken record over the past twenty years warning the ANC about its policy of cadre deployment and tendency to sweep corruption under the proverbial rug and rewarding corrupt officials and ministers with alternative deployment instead of sending a clear message by prosecuting them and sending them to jail.

The chickens have now certainly come home to roost as even the rating agencies will no longer buy the lip-service paid by leaders to ending corruption while they serve with “tainted” comrades. It has taken a global pandemic to underscore the failure, incompetence, and corruption in the ANC government institution.

I hope Ramaphosa will be as robust and as decisive as he has been in the last few days and for once take off his ANC hat and adorn his mantle of constitutional powers and decisively clean the public service before the country is irrevocably junked!

Unfortunately, I don’t think he has large enough testicles to stand up for us struggling South Africans.. since his myopic vision is tainted by black privilege.

We can’t forget that the Cadres have been successful at one thing, keeping us reliant, divided, submissive and misinformed.
