Have you been recently declined by SASSA due to IRP5? If not thousands, there are well over a million applicants who have recently being rejected because they are still registered as employees with SARS and so SASSA assumes they are still working
What is an IRP5?
An IRP5 document is the employee’s tax certificate outlining the employer/employee’s related incomes, taxes as well as all kinds of related deductions each year as it ends.
The IRP5 is used by employees to complete their income tax return for each year. In essence, the employer is required to inform SARS about your income for a specific period which includes the tax deducted from your salary.
A way forward
“Your application for SASSA COVID 19 SRD Grant is declined. Records indicate you had income in the last 18 months.” The SMS takes a new meaning in the word “disappointment” for many applicants.
This can only be resolved by contact SARS and have your documents updated. SARS may require additional paperwork from your previous employer. You may call SARS on 0800 00 7277 for assistance – You may choose to do this online through the SARS online portal.
It is unfortunate that SASSA isn’t aware that most rejected applicants qualify for the grant and all that has to be done is have their documents updated. again to appeal to SASSA, send an email to email@example.com.
