SASSA: Sending banking details via Srd.sassa.gov.za

The system has been crashing as millions of South Africans who were previously rejected, and now approved, fail to submit their banking details via the link that was sent by SASSA. However, most were able to submit banking details with ease while in other cases the SASSA’s SRD website crashes.

If you have been trying to send banking details via srd.sassa.gov.za without any success, the only thing that can be done is to wait until there are fewer people attempting to send the banking details. In the early hours of the morning, that’s when the website is not overloaded.


Indeed SASSA kept its promise by relooking at rejected applications, of which have now been approved. If you are still DECLINED, do not despair, your account will be reviewed as well. Those who are still pending, your account is currently been reviewed.

  1. I applied on behalf of someone in May and I checked their status today and is only showing now approved but never received the sms to confirm how payment will be made. I have the application ID.

    Is the sms suppose to come to me or the person who I applied on behalf of?

    • Many users are trying to check and submit their banking details simultaneously which in turn becomes impossible for the server hosting the SASSA’s website.

  2. I have been declined because of verification error and in the sms they say I must correct it online or via the call center. I have been trying online but it still says declined and I cannot get through to the call center because it keeps on saying network busy. How must I correct it then?

    • Currently, more and more people are trying to access the SASSA’s website simultaneously causing issues with the link, but your link is perfectly fine, try again – my tip would be to try in the morning around 3 am to 6 am.

  5. I have been declined yet I have not been employed for a long time now. How is this possible when I do not recieve any income any do not qualify for UIF?

    • I can only guess that your account hasn’t been reviewed, as this is something that will gradually happen during a few days until each account is reviewed – those declined, will have an opportunity to appeal.

  6. I am frustrated as I’ve been trying to send the banking details with no success. I have no data I have to borrow money to buy data and all my efforts are unsuccessful..!

  7. My covid-19 R350 was declined and the reason was irp5 registered at Sars and I have been unemployed for past 13 years. are they going to review the updated database from Sars?
