Sassa reported as at 11 August 2021 the R350 COVID-19 SRD grant applications had reached an astonishing number of applications of over 5 million.

The graph above tells a worrisome story, when you exclude the unknow numbers and take the rest of the age groups it is clear that the youth of South Africa (18 – 35 years) are unemployed and desperate for some form of income. Collectively the age groups of between under 20 – 35 years account for 65% of all total application with more than 2 million applications being ages 20 – 29 years.

You can still apply for the R350 COVID-19 SRD grant by the following channels:

  • Visit the website https://govchat.app/
  • Using the Facebook messenger https://www.facebook.com/govchat.org
  • Call centre IVR: 0800 60 10 11
  • WhatsApp: 082 046 8553
