South Africa moves to adjusted level 4

As announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday evening, South Africa will move to adjusted alert level 4 lockdown from Monday. The adjusted level 4 will run until Sunday, 11 July 2021, here are the new restrictions that will be implemented:

  • The curfew will commence from 21h00 and end at 04h00.
  • Non-essential establishments must close at 20h00 so that their employees can make it home by 21h00 curfew.
  • No social, religious, cultural and political gatherings except for funerals and will be limited to 50 people.
  • Public parks and beaches will remain open and no gathering is permitted.
  • The sale of alcohol for on site and off site consumption is prohibited.
  • Restaurants are prohibited from having sit-down food services and can only offer takeaways.
  • All schools and universities classes must end by Wednesday, 30 June 2021.
  • There will be a restriction on the travel from in and out of the Gauteng province for leisure. The President also said “There will be no limit on goods, commercial travel, transit, or people who need to move around for business”.
