When life gets better, it’s advisable to be private and conduct your business in a manner only understood by you and your bank. Standard Bank offers you a Private Banking Account that’s only paid a monthly fee of R369. For one to qualify for the account, you need to be earning R58 000 per month if not more.

You get a personal banker available to you at any time of the day. With Private Banking by the standard bank, you can get extra cards such as a platinum Cheque and a credit card as well as a diners club platinum credit card.

You also qualify for an Offshore platinum Optimum account and special rates. You will get access to your account whenever you need to do your daily banking transactions as well as an available team to help you with anything you may need help with, through the phone, Facebook or WeChat.

Melville Douglas is always at hand when you need things done on the management side of things. You can access special investment solutions (short- or long term savings) – furthermore, you get to speak to a financial adviser about insurance, trusts or estate planning.

You will have peace of mind knowing that you get discounted rates through Standard Bank’s Online Share Trading platform. With your Cheque or Credit Card, with Standard Bank’s Private Banking you get exclusive access to the bank’s lounges (2 exclusive lounges) at OR Tambo International Airport’s domestic terminal – your credit card also gets you 12 complimentary visits a year to Bidvest airport lounge.

Your Travel Wallet card is activated for free. In a case when you need foreign banknotes, they can be delivered for free at your doorstep when you are in Gauteng, Western Cape, and KwaZulu Natal.

Your card will have a secure chip as well as protected by a PIN (Personal Identification Number) of which it shouldn’t be shared with anyone at any cost. You get access to offers rendered by MasterCard or Visa and 24/7 support.

You will be able to link your card to SnapScan or Masterpass apps to make easy and secure payments with your phone. Your card will be easily replaced for free if lost. You can use the Standard Bank Mobile App to control your card functionality.

You can do your online shopping with a 3D secure verification, all this for only R369 per month – when you have used your bundled services in a month, you will only be paying for transactions you make.

How to apply

To apply for a Private Banking Account you need to keep in mind the following as well as necessary documents needed.

  • Your monthly income has to be R58 000 if not more, or have assets worth at least R3 million
  • You will have to produce a South Africa Identity Document or Smart Card ID, and if you are not a South African Citizen, a valid passport will be needed
  • Standard Bank will need from you, Proof of income as well as proof of residence that’s not older than 3 months
