Google is running a ‘Thank you coronavirus helpers’ doodle for the next two weeks. This is a way to thank the health workers, and everyone contributing to help curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
“This week, we’re beginning a series of Doodles to recognize the many people responding to COVID-19 — from doctors and nurses caring for people on the front lines, to teachers and food service workers ensuring essential goods and services are still available”
Google occasionally runs doodle series and is reserved for special events such as ‘World Cup’, ‘Olympics’, ‘etc.
Globally, everyone is affected by Coronavirus pandemic. The first ‘Thank you coronavirus helpers’ Google Doodles was on the 6th of April was for Public health workers and to researchers in the scientific community, the 2nd Doodle was on the 7th, thanking Doctors, nurses, and medical workers.
On 8 April, Google was thanking emergency services workers.
“Over the next two weeks, our Doodles will honor other essential frontline workers, including healthcare workers, first responders, and the many people keeping services like sanitation, food service, public transit, schools, and more up and running. Thank you to all the people who are working to save lives and keep communities safe during this pandemic”
In South Africa, iBusiness would like to thank our President Cyril Ramaphosa, out Police Minister, Bheki Cele, Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize and everyone who is helping to stop the spread of the novel virus. South Africa currently has 1686 positive cases of the virus and 12 deaths as of yesterday.
Health Minister Dr. Zweli Mkhize commends the healthcare workers and said “We salute them for their dedication in the service of the nation. We will do everything in our power to provide the support required for them to execute their duties.”
Since COVID-19 was declared a pandemic, Google has utilized its website to give as much information as possible and linking to essential health resources.



“As COVID-19 continues to impact communities around the world, people are coming together to help one another now more than ever. We’re launching a Doodle series to recognize and honor many of those on the front lines.”
