SARB (The South African Reserve Bank) offers bursaries to students in relevant fields of study. The SARB aims to offer bursaries to students who are from disadvantaged backgrounds.

If you are financially struggling studying a relevant field to the bank, SARB is looking to offer free bursaries, and all that will be required is your good Matric/Grade 12 results.

You must have registered with a South African university on a full-time basis to qualify.

Relevant fields of study include:

  • Finance,
  • Law and Accounting, etc.
Irrelevant fields of study include:
  • Medicine,
  • Dentistry
  • Social Work etc.

You will be required to reapply for the bursary each year, and it is granted from the first academic year and reviewed each year. The number of students and costs are reviewed each year. Vacation work opportunities will be provided and funded by the Bank.

Requirements
  • 70% in June Matric/Grade 12 examination results (with final awarding subject to final results and enrolment acceptance at a South African university)
  • Must be a South African
  •  Only students who would not have the means of attending university, had it not been for a bursary, would be considered.

You will be obliged to work for the Bank when you complete your studies unless otherwise stated by the company.

Should the bank decides to employ you, and you refuse the job, you will be required to pay the full cost of the bursary back to the Bank.
