The JSE all share index closing the day at 64 385 from its opening price of 64 300.

On Wednesday the South African equity markets saw Bauba Resources Ltd. (BAU) being the biggest loser of the day with a -11.90% loss moving from R0.42 to close the day at R0.37, whilst Finbond Group Ltd. (FGL) saw a 37.96% gain moving from R1.08 to R1.49, making it the biggest winner in the equity market.

The Rand slightly slipped against the US Dollar on Wednesday, closing business day at R14.41 from opening price of R14.33

Growthpoint has declared a final dividend. In its financial year ended 30 June 2021, it states that it will pay a final dividend of 60 cents per share.

Mining production has increased by 10% year on year in South Africa in July.

Commodities

Gold slightly slipped resulting in a move from 1 804.51 USD/oz to 1 794.06 USD/oz.

Copper recovered yesterday, closing the day at 9 608 USD/t. from its opening price of 9 426.25 USD/t.

Platinum slightly recovered by 0.6% on Wednesday, closing the day at 950.07 USD/oz from its opening price of 944.00 USD/oz.

Oil prices continued on their recovery trajectory with Brent Crude moving from 73.60 USD to closing at 75.46 USD.

Things to watch today

New Zealand Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Japan Exports YoY, Japan Adjusted Trade Balance, Australia Employment Change, European Central Bank President Lagarde Speaks, U.S. Core Retail Sales, U.S. Initial Jobless Claims, U.S. Retail Sales MoM.
