The JSE all share index took a slight knock closing the day at 68 525.54 from its opening price of 67 340.71.

On Wednesday the South African equity markets saw Eastern Platinum Ltd. being the biggest loser of the day with a -13.85% loss moving from R3.97 to close the day at R3.42, whilst Visual International Holdings Ltd. saw a 16.67% gain moving from R0.06 to R0.07, making it the biggest winner in the equity market.

Gold slightly recovered moving from 1 799.09 USD/oz to 1 807.11 USD/oz.

Platinum recovered with a 1.3% gain moving from 1 054.46 USD/oz. to 1 068.68 USD/oz.

Palladium saw some recovery yesterday closing the day at 2 623.83 USD/oz.

Oil prices slightly recovered on Wednesday with Brent Crude moving from 74.48 to closing at 74.74 USD.

Global Markets

GER30 and UK100 futures are down -0.1% and US futures narrowly mixed, as investors wait for US GDP data.
FOMC signalled patience on tapering.

Reporting

Commodity markets show signs of growth with several mining companies releasing their results and some are seeing record high production levels. BHP GROUP PLC is the latest to release its report.

Samsung operating profit up 54% in Q2

Volkswagen revenue jumps 64% to €67.3 billion in Q2

Sanofi Q2 net sales up 12.4% to €8.74 billion

Nestle sales rose 1.5% to 41.75 billion Swiss francs in H1

Airbus Q2 revenue of €14.18 billion, up 70%

PayPal Q2 revenue missed forecast of $6.24 billion

Ford revenue up 38% annually to $26.8 billion

Qualcomm revenue up 65% to $8.1 billion in Q3

Credit Suisse revenue fell 18% to 5.1 billion Swiss francs

Facebook beats forecasts with Q2 revenue of $29.1 billion

Things to watch today:
South Africa M3 Money Supply, South Africa Private Sector Credit, South Africa Producer Price Index (PPI), Germany Unemployment Change, ECB Publishes Account of Monetary Policy Meeting, U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP), U.S. Initial Jobless Claims, U.S. Pending Home Sales.
