The JSE all share index was largely moving sideways with a slight downside movement yesterday closing the day at 68 898 from its opening price of 68 706.
On Wednesday the South African equity markets saw Randgold & Exploration Co Ltd. being the biggest loser of the day with a -38.78% loss moving from R1.47 to close the day at R0.90, whilst Go Life International Ltd. saw a 100.00% gain moving from R0.01 to R0.02, making it the biggest winner in the equity market.
Caltex service stations are rebranding and will be called Astron Energy. The rebranding will allow the current Caltex service station to get an upgrade and the upgrade will be implemented in phases.
Telkom reported a 36.3% growth in subscribers year on year in the quarter ended 30 June 2021. Telkom has overtaken Cell C becoming the third largest mobile operator.
The Rand took a knock against the US Dollar on Wednesday closing at R14.39 from its opening of R14.31.
Commodities
Gold gained some ground moving from 1 810.44 USD/oz to 1 811.74 USD/oz.
Platinum moved from 1 051.52 USD/oz. to 1 027.68 USD/oz.
Palladium gained some ground closing the day at 2 647 USD/oz from 2 644.25 USD/oz.
Oil prices slightly slipped on Wednesday with Brent Crude moving from 72.41 to closing at 70.38 USD.
Global Markets
Bloomberg reported China imposed new travel and movement restrictions across the nation, including in its highly protected capital of Beijing, as a delta-driven outbreak grew to over 500 symptomatic cases scattered across 15 provinces and municipalities.
