The JSE all share index took a slight knock closing the day at 68 051.01 from its opening price of 68 063.70.

On Monday   the South African equity markets saw African Dawn Capital Ltd. being the biggest loser of the day with a -16.67% loss moving from R0.12 to close the day at R0.10, whilst African Equity Empowerment Investments Ltd. saw a 22.73% gain moving from R1.10 to R1.35, making it the biggest winner in the equity market.

In an interview with eNCA, The Social Development Minister, Lindiwe Zulu, says that all systems are in place to roll out the newly extended social relief grant. South Africans who qualify will have to reapply for the R350 social relief grand. The social relief grant will run until March 2022. Unemployed citizens aged 18-59 who receive no other grants and unemployed caregivers who receive the normal child support grant can apply.

Mango Airlines temporarily suspends all flights from today (27 July 2021). 

Gold slightly slipped moving from 1 802.15 USD/oz to 1 797.63 USD/oz.

Platinum slightly recovered with a 0.5% gain moving from 1 063.54 USD/oz. to 1 068.85 USD/oz.

Palladium slightly recovered closing the day at 2 685.42 USD/oz.

Oil prices continued on their upward movement on Monday with Brent Crude moving from 74.10 to closing at 74.50 USD.

Global Markets
Eurozone bonds underperformed versus Gilts yesterday as peripheral stock markets caught a bid, but GER30 and UK100 futures are down -0.2% and -0.1% respectively, after a mixed session across Asia overnight.

Things to watch today:
U.S. Core Durable Goods Orders, Reserve Bank of Australia Assistant Governor Debelle Speaks, U.S. CB Consumer Confidence, Bank of Japan Governor Kuroda Speaks.
