The JSE all share index closing the day at 66 515 from its opening price of 66 254.
On Tuesday the South African equity markets saw Choppies Enterprises Ltd. (CHP) being the biggest loser of the day with a -14.29% loss moving from R0.84 to close the day at R0.72, whilst Astoria Investment Ltd. (ARA) saw a 20.69% gain moving from R4.06 to R4.90, making it the biggest winner in the equity market.
The Rand slipped against the US Dollar, closing at R14.32 from its opening price of R14.24
South Africa’s economy has seen a fourth consecutive growth with the GDP growing by 1.2% from April to June 2021
President Cyril Ramaphosa to meet with the National Coronavirus Command Council and related parties to discuss infection rates, vaccination figures and the adjusted level 3 of the National State of Disaster. The President is expected to relax the restrictions and possibly move the country to an adjusted level 2 of the National State of Disaster. This will possibly shift the curfew and allow more economic activity to take place in South Africa.
Commodities
Commodities continued taking some losses on Tuesday.
Gold moved from 1 823.29 USD/oz to 1 794.36 USD/oz.
Copper closed the day at 9 330.90 USD/t. from its opening price of 9 441.25 USD/t.
Platinum slipped by -2.1%, closing the day at 1 002.06 USD/oz from its opening price of 1 023.73 USD/oz.
Oil prices continued taking a knock, with Brent Crude moving from 72.22 to closing at 71.69 USD.
Global Markets
The US Dollar Index has rallied on the back of rising yields. US Equities were mixed yesterday with The USA500 down by -15 coming to 4520 while the Dow Jones lost -0.76%. US Oil has recovered from $67.50 back to $68.50
The December 10-year Bund future is down -8 ticks, slightly under-performing versus Treasury futures. DAX and FTSE 100 futures are down -0.025% and -0.336% respectively, after a largely weaker session in Asia.
