South Africa

The JSE all share index closing the day at 68 940 from its opening price of 68 825.

On Tuesday the South African equity markets saw Randgold & Exploration Co Ltd. (RNG), being the biggest loser of the day with a -27.78% loss moving from R1.44 to close the day at R1.04, whilst African Equity Empowerment Investments Ltd. (AEE) saw a 18.28% gain moving from R0.93 to R1.10, making it the biggest winner in the equity market for two consecutive days.

The Rand slightly lost against the US Dollar on Tuesday closing at R14.91 from its opening price of R14.84.

SASSA urges approved applicants from the previous special COVID 19 grants to collect their funds by the 31st of August 2021. Grants not collected will be sent back to National Treasury to fund other government priorities.

MTN Group has surpassed Vodacom following a share price growth of 8% on Monday.

Commodities

Commodity prices took a dive on Tuesday with most of them closing with lows.

Gold saw a slight loss with a move from 1 787.45 USD/oz to 1 786.19 USD/oz. resulting in a -0.1% loss.

Copper lost some ground by -2.0% closing at 9 226.75 USD/t. from its opening price of 9 419.50 USD/t.

Platinum slipped by -2.7%, closing the day at 1 026.65 USD/oz from its opening price of 1 026.65 USD/oz

Oil prices continued taking a knock on Tuesday with Brent Crude moving from 69.51 to closing at 69.51 USD.
