Michael Page Africa is a specialist recruitment firm that recruits managers and senior executives on the African continent.

The firm has released its South African professionals’ salaries guide report for 2022, the sectors that the firm focuses on are engineering & manufacturing, finance & accounting, procurement, supply chain & logistics, sales and marking and technology.

The firm’s data for its salary benchmark is derived from the firm’s proprietary database, capturing job advertisements and placements throughout 2021. It is also supplemented with data and insights from other studies such as quarterly job market surveys, and insights from interactions with clients and candidates.

The following tables will indicate the range of salaries for South African professionals to expect for those planning on working for a small medium enterprise (SME) or multinational corporations (MNC).

Engineering & Manufacturing

Under the Engineering & Manufacturing sector the following are the three highest paying positions:

  • Manufacturing Director;
  • Project Director; and
  • R&D / NPD Director.

Finance & Accounting

Under the finance & accounting sector the following are the three highest paying positions:

  • Group / Regional CFO;
  • Finance Director; and
  • Group Tax Director.

Sales & Marketing

Under the sales & marketing sector the following are the three highest paying positions:

  • CMO;
  • VP of Sales; and
  • General Manager of Sales.

Procurement

Under the procurement sector the following are the three highest paying positions:

  • VP of Procurement;
  • Procurement Director; and
  • Head of Procurement.

Supply chain & logistics

Under the supply chain & logistics sector the following are the three highest paying positions:

  • VP of Supply Chain;
  • Supply Chain / Logistics Director; and
  • Supply Chain Manager.

Technology

Under the technology sector the following are the three highest paying positions:

  • CIO;
  • CISO; and
  • CTO.
