Downdetector, the website that tracks app outages has recently indicated that WhatsApp, which is by far, the most used messaging service by Facebook, stopped working on Tuesday night for the most parts of the world.
The first problem was detected on Tuesday around 21h30 (South African Time). There are still downtime reports sent to the Downdector website on Wednesday. Bloomberg, also reported that technical issues of the app jumped after 10 PM (SA Time). The Map cited WhatsApp problems in Europe, North America, and South America.
Speaking to Bloomberg, the company’s spokesperson said: “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages and we’re working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible,”.
The problem seems to be affecting South Africa as well. Many users are unable to login, chat, and can’t load new messages.
